Madison Peach

Medium size, bright red freestone fruit. High quality, slightly fibrous, firm, orange-yellow flesh with contrasting pinkish red near the pit. Mild, rich flavor. Flesh is slow to soften. Skin peels easily. Excellent canning peach. Tree is hardy, vigorous, frost resistant and self pollinating. Blossom buds have considerable resistance to spring frosts. Recommended for Northern climates. Ripens in late August, 7 days before Elberta. 850 chill hours, Zones 5-8. Introduced in 1963 by the Virginia Ag. Station.
