Rare heirloom of unknown parentage, medium size, round fruit is deep-purple with a black bloom. Excellent eating and cooking qualities, makes great cider; dries well. Biennial bearer, resistant to insects and disease. Ripens in November, hardy in Zone 3. Originated in Oxford County, Maine in the 1860’s.
