Grimes Golden

Medium to large, bright, golden yellow fruit. Crisp, fine grained, yellow flesh. Rich, distinctive, aromatic, spicy flavor. Superior dessert quality. Excellent, juicy, cider apple; good for all kitchen uses except baking. Keeps until January. Productive tree; medium vigor. Bears young and annually. Self pollinating. Excellent pollinizer. Resistant to fire blight and rust. Ripens mid-season. Hardy to Zone 5. Possible parent of Yellow Delicious. Originated with Thomas Grimes in Brook County, West Virginia around 1804.
