Ribes Nigra 'Consort'
Medium long clusters of somewhat soft ½"-3/4" black berries. Prominent, sweet, unique, musky flavor. Good for jams, jellies, preserves, juice, wine and flavoring. Excellent dried. Heavy bearing shrub grows 4'-6' tall by 3'-5' wide. Self-fruitful; easy to care for. Will naturalize. Excellent bird forage,wildlife habitat or windbreak shrub. Black currants are one of the highest sources of vitamin C. Hardy to -30 degrees F. Developed in Ottawa, Ontario. Introduced in 1950.
