Young leaves, flowers, fruit including the flesh, bark and wood of branches are red. This form is a parent of many crabapples. Resistant to fireblight and variable resistance to scab. From southwest Siberia and Turkey. Introduced around 1891. Open pollinated seedlings exhibit either red or green foliage. Good wildlife habitat plant.
