Jefferis

Thin skinned, light red fruit with darker red stripes. Juicy, crisp yet tender and melting yellow flesh. Rich pear like flavor. Bruises easily. Hardy tree bears heavy crop every year. Scab and mildew resistant. Ripens mid-September. Hardy to Zone 4. Originated on the farm of Isaac Jefferis of Chester County, Pennsylvania in 1830. Was awarded premium for best seedling apple exhibited by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society in 1848.
