Nutting Bumpus

fresh eating

Seedling of Duchess of Oldenburg from Perham, Maine in the 19th century. Introduced by orchardist James Nutting who was dedicated to developing apples that would thrive in northern Maine. Large, round-conic fruit with light yellow ground color with a faint washing and penciling of dull red on the sunny side. Yellow-white flesh is juicy, fine grained and mildly sub-acid. Better for fresh eating than its parent.
